Hi, I'm Shelbie :)

Hello Everyone!

My name is Shelbie Martin, and I am in the Masters of Leadership Studies - Higher Education emphasis program here at North Central. For my undergraduate degree, I attended Northern Illinois University and obtained a bachelors degree in Family and Child Studies with an emphasis in Family Social Services. Prior to graduation, I worked as a Behavioral Health Specialist at a residential treatment center supporting adolescent and adult women struggling with eating disorders, substance abuse, suicidal ideation, mood disorders, and so much more.

After working in the field for about a year I experienced some "burn out" and decided to switch gears into my current position as a Student Success Coach at Colorado Technical University, and I have fallen in love with working in higher education. I also currently volunteer my time working with the Alpha Delta Pi- Delta Omega chapter at NIU on the house corporation. My goal prior to achieving my degree here at NCC is to transition into a ground campus and becoming the Director of Sorority Fraternity life at a university or working in some aspect of student life and student services.

It has always been my passion to help people in one way or another. After spending time working in higher education, as well as help college student I have learned that higher education is where I want to be.

I look forward to meeting and working with you all!
